MIX II and III
Temporary
Pastures
High Yield & Quality all year long
BIODIVERSE MIXTURE OF SEEDS FOR MULTI-CUT TEMPORARY GRASSLANDS (GRAZING AND/OR CUT AND CARRY)
Characteristics
. Designed exclusively for cooler and moister areas and dairy production units, in the northern Iberian Peninsula.
. MIX II – biennial mixture exclusively for cutting (hay, silage or cut and carry).
. MIX III – mixture lasting 3 to 4 years, designed for mixed use for cutting and/or grazing. Supports intensive grazing.
Reasons for sowing
. High forage production all year.
. Rich in energy, protein and high digestibility, reducing costs of feeding systems based on concentrate feeds.
. Fixes atmospheric nitrogen – reduction in costs of nitrogen fertilization.
. The best solution for forage production for cutting between 2 and 4 years.
. Fast initial growth.
. Complementarity of production in the different seasons.
. Good quality feed for several years.
MIX II and MIX III Handling
First year
. The first cut* (by grazing or mechanical) done 2-3 months after sowing, allows improvement in grassland’s homogeneity and controls weeds, improving its floristic composition.
* Whenever the vegetative development of the grassland justifies it.
Second year and following years
. The winter rest (or reduction of stocking) from mid-November to February increases forage production.
. From March to October several cuts can be made, at intervals of 2-3 months, for high quality silage or hay. Increasing cut frequency helps to stimulate the grassland and to improve weed control.
